Regent Street is part of a project called The Wild West End that seeks to enhance ecological connectivity between the existing areas of surrounding parkland through installations such as green roofs, green walls and planters. These green spaces encourage wildlife to thrive in the area and as a result indigenous bats and birds have returned to the West End.
Last year ecologists found evidence of Black Redstarts and Pied Wagtail exploring the bird boxes on the roof of 20 Air Street, which was extremely exciting news as the Black Redstart is one of the UK’s rarest species.
