Westminster City Council Kickstart Business Gateway Event

Westminster City Council is an approved gateway under the governments Kickstart scheme,  – a new initiative providing job opportunities for young residents, aged 16-24, currently in receipt of Universal Credit. The Kickstart Scheme provides £2 billion worth of funding via wage subsidies to employers of any industry or size to create high quality 6-month jobs, at a minimum of 25 hours per week. The Government will also provide employers with £1,500 per job for the provision of other employment related or programme management costs.

Kickstart has the potential to not only provide our young people with a much-needed employment opportunity but will also develop them as assets for the local economy. As a result, employers will gain from fresh skills and diverse perspectives. Jobs must be designed to help the cohort gain skills and experience so they can compete more effectively in the labour market once the scheme is over. By signing up to the scheme via the Council, you will have direct access to the council’s wraparound support via its work coaches and a central point of contact to manage any administrative and training needs for young people.
